Virtual Epilepsy Education Day

Every year on March 26th, people wear purple to support epilepsy awareness and their family and friends living with seizures. This year, the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA is celebrating March 26th with a Virtual Epilepsy Education Day. We are inviting you to help us break our record for the most students educated about epilepsy in one day!

· Register your class for an epilepsy education presentation. After you register, you will be sent a Zoom link to access the program on March 26th. If you are teaching remotely, you can share the link with your students so they can register to join.

· During the program, your class can interact with us by asking questions through a chat box.

· We are able to provide this program for free because of funding from the PA Department of Health, so we will ask you to collect surveys from your class.

My Not-So-Secret Seizures  (30 minutes)

For our youngest audiences, this program is based on a picture book that will be read aloud, and each student will receive a coloring book of the story. We will ship coloring books to your classroom before March 26th.

1 in 26  (45 minutes)

Typically for 4th-8th grades, this program talks about epilepsy and seizures and how to support your peers. It also includes a series of short videos featuring kids from western Pennsylvania who have epilepsy.

* We also have programs for high school students—please contact us for more information.

As a thank you for participating, the first 5 classrooms to register will receive purple sunglasses for the teacher and all the students in the registered class!

Every class that participates on March 26th and sends us completed surveys will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win another prize:

One classroom teacher will win a $100 gift certificate to spend on supplies for their classroom. Students in that class will receive purple sunglasses and an additional surprise!

Contact Andrea at azonneveld@eawcp.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about our free seizure trainings for school staff, students, and other community organizations!
