After several weeks of monitoring the ever-changing levels of risks associated with the COVID-19 virus and variants, the Epilepsy Association Board Executive Committee has arrived at a difficult decision. Out of concern for the health and safety of everyone involved with the event, our organization has postponed the Mardi Gras Gala, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

The 28th Annual Mardi Gras Gala black tie event will now be held in person, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Westin Hotel Pittsburgh.

Audrey Russo, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, will be crowned King of the Mardi Gras. Since 2007, she has served the technology business sector for southwestern PA as President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the oldest (1983) and largest technology trade association. In this role, Russo facilitates strong interaction across all sectors of the regional economy. With a background in information technology, operations, and finance, Russo previously worked for large multi-national Fortune 500 companies (Alcoa, Reynolds Metals), as well as at MAYA Design, and in an adjunct faculty and project role at Virginia Commonwealth University. She loves the complexity of Pittsburgh’s physical, literal, and metaphorical terrain and believes the city will succeed and grow through technology innovation and commercialized disruptions across every platform and experience. Pittsburgh’s technology roots are essential and imperative in achieving competitive, diverse, and vibrant economies.

The Mardi Gras Gala is a fundraising event that honors a community leader for their commitment and dedication to the Pittsburgh region. The event is traditionally supported by the corporate community through table sponsorships. The event has become one of Pittsburgh’s premiere social gatherings, and has been sold to capacity since its inception.
